Malaysia Airlines Flight MH21 Returns To Paris Shortly After Take-Off Due To Engine Issue

Date:

Malaysia Airlines has confirmed that its flight MH21, which departed from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in France, returned shortly after take-off as a precautionary measure following an engine indication anomaly.

In a statement, the airline said the flight crew requested priority handling and followed air traffic control instructions, including activating an emergency transponder code, to ensure a safe return to CDG for technical inspections.

“The aircraft landed safely at 3.35pm local time in Paris,” Malaysia Airlines said.

The airline added that affected passengers were rebooked onto alternative flights where available, while others were provided accommodation at hotels near the airport.

Malaysia Airlines also said a replacement flight, MH21D, is scheduled to depart CDG at 5pm local time today (Jan 8).

The airline expressed its regret over the inconvenience and disruption to passengers’ travel plans, reiterating that safety remains its top priority.

According to live air traffic tracking website Flightradar24, flight MH21 departed CDG at 2.09pm local time before returning to the airport following the incident.
