Man Allegedly Punched In Forehead During Heated Business Site Row In Front Of Melaka Shopping Centre

Date:

A dispute over a business site in front of a shopping centre in Melaka turned violent after a man was allegedly punched in the head last Friday.

Melaka Tengah district police chief Assistant Commissioner Halim Abas said police became aware of a video of the incident after it went viral on Facebook at around 8am on Monday.

“Checks found that the incident occurred at about 5.20pm at the location. A police report was lodged on the same day at approximately 9.17pm,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Halim said preliminary investigations found that the confrontation stemmed from a disagreement over a business site.

He said a 35-year-old woman and her 47-year-old husband had gone to the location to discuss the matter with the parties involved. However, the discussion reportedly became heated before a 46-year-old man allegedly punched the woman’s husband on the upper forehead, causing him to experience pain.

Also present at the scene were a 45-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man. Police found no evidence of threats being made, and both parties subsequently left the location.

The case is being investigated under Sections 160 and 323 of the Penal Code.

Halim urged the public not to speculate or circulate content that could provoke tensions and worsen the situation.

“Any dispute should be resolved through the proper channels,” he said.
