Man Arrested After Killing, Cooking His Pet Peacocks Over Neighbor Dispute

Date:

A Florida man reportedly killed, cooked, and ate two of his pet peacocks following a dispute with his neighbor.

The suspect, 61-year-old Craig Vogt from Hudson, was arrested on September 23 and faces charges of animal cruelty. According to an affidavit from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, Vogt left a note in his neighbor’s mailbox claiming he took the action because she kept feeding the peacocks.

Authorities said Vogt had also planned to kill all of his remaining peacocks upon release, as he did not want them cared for by anyone else. The exact number of peacocks he owns is currently unknown.

The sheriff’s office described the incident as an isolated dispute with the neighbor and stated it posed no threat to public safety.
