Police have arrested a 31-year-old local man following an alleged trespassing incident at a condominium along Jalan Patingan here.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said police received a report from a male complainant at about 1.08pm on Aug 10, claiming the incident had occurred at around 11.35am the same day.
He said police subsequently gathered information and conducted intelligence work before a team from the District Criminal Investigation Department (BSJD) arrested the suspect at about 1.40pm.
“Several items believed to be connected to the case were also seized to assist the investigation,” he said in a statement.
Police checks found that the suspect had no previous criminal record. However, an initial urine screening test returned positive for drugs.
The case is being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass, which provides for a maximum jail sentence of six months, a fine of up to RM3,000, or both upon conviction.
Alexson also reminded residential management bodies to strengthen security measures, particularly by ensuring access points are properly secured and preventing unknown individuals from entering restricted areas.
He urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to the Kuching District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 082-244444 to assist police in maintaining residential safety.
