Man Falls from Penang Bridge in Third Incident This Week — Rescue Underway

Date:

Emergency crews are currently conducting a rescue operation following reports that a man fell from the Penang Bridge early this morning.

John Sagun Francis, assistant director (operations) of the Penang Fire and Rescue Department, said the department received a call from PLUS Malaysia at around 3:30 a.m. regarding the incident.

“CCTV footage shows a man falling from the bridge, and personal belongings belonging to the 31-year-old were found at the scene,” he said. “The fall occurred near Km4 of the bridge, heading towards Prai.”

This marks the third such incident on the bridge in the past 24 hours. Yesterday, two separate search-and-rescue operations were launched after two men reportedly fell into the sea—one on the Penang Bridge and another in Butterworth. Searches for both individuals are still ongoing.

Authorities are urging the public to stay clear of the area while rescue efforts continue.
