Date:

A 37-year-old man was found dead in his rented room in Kampung Ranggut, Padang Matsirat, Langkawi yesterday after his family was unable to contact him for three days.

The victim, identified as Khairol Iqmal Rohidin, from Kangar, Perlis, was found lying motionless on his bed late yesterday afternoon.

Langkawi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Khairul Azhar Nuruddin said the room owner received a call from the victim’s cousin at about 6.55pm, informing him that Khairol had not been reachable for three days.

“The owner found that the rented room was locked. He called out to the victim several times but received no response.

“He then looked into the room through the window and found the victim unconscious on the bed before informing the police,” he said today.

Khairul Azhar said preliminary checks found no external injuries on the victim.

“There were no signs of a criminal incident, and the victim was not known to have any medical history,” he said.

The victim’s body was taken to the Forensic Unit at Hospital Sultanah Maliha for further action.

Police have classified the case as sudden death.
