A man in his 20s suffered injuries to his head, shoulder and elbow after being attacked and robbed by two machete-wielding suspects in a residential neighbourhood in Kuala Ketil on Monday morning.
Baling District Police Chief Brandon Richard Joe said police received a report regarding the armed group robbery at about 8.40am.
Following the report, officers launched an investigation and visited the scene, where they confirmed the victim was a local man in his 20s.
Initial investigations revealed that at around 8.10am, the victim was approached by two men who arrived in a silver Honda car.
“The two suspects were each armed with machetes and carried out a robbery against the victim,” Brandon said in a statement on Tuesday.
During the attack, the victim sustained injuries to his head, shoulder and elbow before being rushed to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) in Sungai Petani for medical treatment.
Apart from the physical injuries, the victim also suffered financial losses after cash and personal belongings were stolen during the robbery.
Police are investigating the case under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing robbery.
Authorities are currently working to track down the suspects and are exploring several leads as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have urged members of the public with information regarding the incident to come forward and assist investigators.
The brazen daylight robbery has raised concerns among residents, with police intensifying efforts to identify and arrest those responsible.
