Police are investigating a motorist who allegedly drove against the flow of traffic, causing a three-vehicle collision along Kilometre 24 of the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP) on Sunday.
Serdang District Police Chief Muhamad Farid Ahmad said authorities received a report regarding the incident at approximately 1.07pm.
Preliminary investigations found that a Honda City driven by a man had been travelling in the wrong direction before crashing into two oncoming vehicles.
“The Honda City collided with a Perodua Axia and a Honda CR-V that were travelling from Sunway towards Puchong,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
As a result of the collision, the Honda City driver sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Police have also taken a blood sample from the driver, which will be sent to the Chemistry Department for further analysis as part of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the drivers of the Perodua Axia and Honda CR-V escaped the incident without any injuries.
Muhamad Farid said the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
The investigation remains ongoing as police work to determine the circumstances that led to the wrong-way driving incident.
Earlier, footage of the crash went viral on social media, showing a vehicle travelling against traffic moments before becoming involved in the collision, sparking widespread concern among road users.
