A local man with a history of bipolar disorder was found dead after he was believed to have fallen from a building at Country Garden, Danga Bay, Johor Bahru, on Wednesday night.
Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Azrul Hisham Mohd Shaffei said police received a report regarding the incident from auxiliary police at about 10.01pm.
He said a medical assistant from Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) confirmed that the victim had died at the scene.
“Initial investigations and checks at the location found no criminal elements involved.
“The case has been classified as sudden death investigation (SDR), while the body was sent to the HSA Forensic Department for a post-mortem to determine the actual cause of death,” he said in a statement.
Azrul Hisham said further investigations found that the victim had previously received treatment related to bipolar disorder.
He said the victim was believed to have stopped attending follow-up treatments and had not continued taking the prescribed medication for some time.
However, police are still continuing investigations to complete all aspects related to the case.
The police also advised the public not to spread speculation or unverified information on social media, as such actions could affect the investigation and cause distress to the victim’s family.
