Man With Three Drug Crime Records Arrested, RM21,500 Worth Of Drugs Seized In Bera

A man with three previous drug-related criminal records has been arrested after police allegedly caught him involved in drug trafficking activities along a roadside in Felda Tembangau 1, Kemayan, early Monday morning.

Bera district police chief Superintendent Zulkiflee Nazir said the suspect, who was riding a Honda motorcycle, was detained at about 1am by officers from the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJN) following intelligence on suspected drug distribution activities.

Police seized 367.55g of syabu (methamphetamine), 27.10g of Erimin 5 pills, and 138.17g of cannabis, with the total value of the drugs estimated at RM21,502.

Authorities also took action under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988, seizing a Kawasaki motorcycle worth an estimated RM25,000, along with RM97,000 in cash believed to be linked to the suspect.

A preliminary urine screening found the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and benzodiazepine.

Police checks further revealed that the man has three previous records involving drug-related offences.

The suspect has been remanded for seven days, from July 27 to Aug. 2, to assist with investigations.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which covers drug trafficking offences.

Zulkiflee stressed that police would not compromise with anyone involved in drug trafficking, describing drugs as the nation’s number one enemy.
