A warehouse storing hardware supplies and construction materials near a restaurant in Batu Belah, Klang, was heavily damaged after a fire broke out in the early hours of Wednesday.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at about 12.45am before firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Assistant Director of Operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said a total of 19 officers and firefighters from the Klang Utara Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by personnel from the Klang Selatan Fire and Rescue Station, responded to the incident. The location was approximately two kilometres from the fire station.
Upon arrival just four minutes later, firefighters found the blaze engulfing a warehouse used to store various hardware and construction-related items, including paint, LED lighting equipment and plastic products.
Firefighters launched an extensive firefighting operation using two hose lines stretching approximately 300 feet to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby premises.
Water was sourced from a nearby fire hydrant and a water tanker to support suppression efforts throughout the operation.
Ashrul Riezal said the warehouse suffered an estimated 80 per cent damage in the fire. No casualties were reported, while the cause of the blaze is being investigated by the authorities.
