Jabatan Meteorologi Malaysia (METMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong wind warning affecting several states across the country until 3pm today.
In a statement released today, METMalaysia said the affected states include Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Johor and Sarawak, with several districts expected to experience unstable weather conditions.
In Kedah, the alert covers areas including Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu.
Meanwhile in Penang, Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan are also expected to be affected, while in Perak, Kerian and Larut, Matang dan Selama are among the districts placed under the alert.
METMalaysia also warned that similar weather conditions are expected in Negeri Sembilan’s Jempol district as well as several areas in Johor including Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru.
In Sarawak, the affected areas include Kuching (Lundu), Sri Aman, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah and Kapit (Song), where thunderstorms and heavy rain are also forecast.
The agency reminded that thunderstorm warnings are short-term alerts valid for not more than six hours for each issuance, and advised the public to remain cautious and monitor updates from time to time.
