Missing Man With Depression Found Safe After Nearly A Week Went Missing

A man reported missing for nearly a week has been found safe after returning home to Felda Chini Timur 2 on Sunday night.

Amirul Ahmad, 37, who has a history of depression, was reported missing after leaving his residence on January 27.

Pekan District Police Chief Superintendent Mohd Zaidi Mat Zin said officers from Chini Police Station immediately responded to verify Amirul’s identity and ensure his well-being upon receiving news of his return.

“Following the man’s return, the search and rescue (SAR) operation was officially called off at 8 pm. We would like to express our gratitude to all agencies and individuals who worked tirelessly during the five-day operation,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Mohd Zaidi also thanked the public for their prayers and concern throughout the search. “We hope the close cooperation between security forces and the community continues to strengthen for the welfare of Pekan District,” he added.

Earlier reports by Sinar Harian stated that Amirul left his home in the early hours of January 27, wearing only his night clothes. His disappearance was first noticed by his mother, who filed a police report at 12:06 pm that day.
