Morning Crash In Bukit Besi Leaves Five Injured, Myvi Driver Trapped In Car

Date:

Five people, including two children, were injured after two cars collided near the Bukit Besi Correctional Centre in Dungun on Thursday morning.

The crash, which occurred at about 7am, involved a Perodua Axia driven by a 49-year-old man and a Perodua Myvi carrying a family of four.

Bandar Al Muktafi Billah Shah Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Mohd Sharizan Muhammad said the station received an emergency call regarding the incident at 7.06am.

He said six firefighters were dispatched to the scene, located about 20 kilometres from the station, using a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) vehicle.

“Four victims had already been taken out of the vehicles by members of the public before firefighters arrived.

“However, the Myvi driver, Abu Sufian Shafie, 47, was found trapped in the driver’s seat,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Firefighters subsequently freed Abu Sufian using a stretcher, while the other occupants of the Myvi were identified as Zanariah Puteh, 49, Nur Erdiwana Zulaika Abu Sufian, 26, and six-year-old Nur Elya Zahirah Abu Sufian.

The Axia driver was identified as Che Sufri Rizaiman Che Wan Sulaiman, 49.

All five injured victims were taken to Dungun Hospital for further treatment.

Firefighters also carried out cleaning work to clear debris and remnants from the crash site before the operation was fully concluded at about 8.30am.
