A mother and her two daughters were found dead inside a room at a house in Bandar Baru Tambun here on Thursday night.
Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said police received information regarding the incident at about 9.10pm.
He said initial checks at the scene found the victims, a 46-year-old woman and her two daughters aged 12 and 11, were Malaysian citizens.
“All three victims were discovered lifeless inside a room of the house.
“A container believed to contain charcoal ash residue was also found inside the room,” he said in a statement on Friday.
Muhammad Najib said preliminary examinations by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) forensic team together with forensic medical experts found no injuries or signs of criminal activity on the victims.
He said the case has been classified as sudden death, while investigations are still ongoing to determine the actual cause of the incident.
A post-mortem examination was scheduled to be carried out on Friday to assist further investigations.
Police also advised the public not to speculate or spread unverified information while investigations are ongoing.
