A motorcyclist died after being thrown onto the windscreen of a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) before being dragged for about 20 metres in a crash at KM138 of Jalan Kuala Lumpur-Kuantan on Friday night.
K Paramasivan Kasi, 48, was pronounced dead at the scene following the incident at about 8.40pm.
Temerloh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron said police received information about the crash involving a Modenas 110 motorcycle and a Perodua Alza from the Temerloh district police headquarters operations room.
He said initial investigations found that the victim was travelling from Lanchang towards Jalan Jelutong in Mentakab.
“At the same time, the Perodua Alza, driven by a 41-year-old man, was travelling from Temerloh towards his home in Batu 7, Lanchang.
“Upon reaching the scene, the motorcycle is believed to have skidded before entering the MPV’s path, resulting in a collision,” he said.
Mohd Nasyim said the impact threw the motorcyclist onto the MPV’s windscreen before he fell in front of the vehicle.
“The victim was then believed to have been dragged for about 20 metres before the vehicle came to a stop.
“The MPV driver did not sustain any injuries,” he said.
Police investigations also found that the victim did not have a valid driving licence, while the motorcycle’s road tax had expired.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
