A 40-year-old Malaysian woman was rescued after falling into a 10m-deep hole while hiking in Da Lat, Vietnam, on Sunday.
According to the Vietnam News Agency, the incident occurred at around 5.45am in the Hon Bo mountain area of Lam Vien-Da Lat ward in Lam Dong province.
The woman, identified by her initials G.S.W., fell into a hole about 70cm in diameter believed to be part of an abandoned mining site.
She became trapped inside, and fellow hikers were unable to pull her out, prompting them to alert local authorities for an emergency rescue operation.
Rescuers eventually brought her to safety at around 7.15am before rushing her to Lam Dong General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Initial reports indicated that she had injured her right ankle. She received first aid before being transferred to the hospital for further treatment.
Hon Bo Mountain, near Thai Phien flower village, is a popular destination for hiking, cloud hunting and photography, attracting both locals and tourists.
The mountain offers scenic views towards central Da Lat, particularly in the early morning. However, spontaneous hikes and sightseeing can pose safety risks, especially for visitors unfamiliar with the terrain.
Authorities have advised visitors to exercise caution when exploring mountainous areas and avoid hiking alone in unfamiliar locations where potential hazards may be difficult to identify.
