A Perodua Myvi driver sustained serious injuries, while seven others suffered minor injuries in a three-vehicle collision at KM94 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) southbound today.
The incident, which was reported to firefighters at 8.56am, left a 56-year-old woman severely injured after she became trapped in the driver’s seat and had to be rescued using special equipment.
Guar Chempedak Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Happyzam Abd Rashid said the crash involved a seven-tonne lorry, a Perodua Myvi and a Toyota Noah.
He said firefighters arrived to find several occupants involved, including male and female passengers aged between 16 and 49 across the three vehicles.
Seven other victims sustained only minor injuries, while the Myvi driver was the only one reported to be seriously hurt in the crash.
All victims were transported to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH) for further treatment following rescue operations at the scene.
Cleanup works were later carried out before operations concluded fully at 10.05am.
