Nigerian Engineer Jailed 6 Months for Stalking 14-Year-Old Girl in Singapore

Date:

A Nigerian materials engineer working in Singapore was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for repeatedly stalking a 14-year-old girl in the Serangoon area. The man pressured the girl to give him her phone number despite her rejections; fearing for her safety, she eventually gave him her father’s number. Her father warned him to stop contacting his daughter, but the man continued following her at Nex shopping mall on two separate occasions.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to one charge under the Protection from Harassment Act, with three other charges taken into consideration during sentencing. A gag order protects the identity of the minor victim.

Police reports show the man also harassed three other women, aged between 25 and 30, in incidents at a gym, lifts, and shopping malls. These additional offenses were factored into his sentencing.

Authorities highlighted the persistent and escalating nature of his harassment, which included approaching victims, following them, and recording videos without consent.
