A nurse has claimed she is living in fear after allegedly being threatened by her former boyfriend, who threatened to kill her and spread their intimate videos if she refused to continue their relationship.
The woman, who wished to be identified as Nini, 29, said she met the 27-year-old man earlier this year before they were in a relationship for about five months.
She said she decided to end the relationship after discovering that the man was allegedly involved in drug abuse and was unemployed.
“After I told him that I wanted to break up, he started threatening to kill me and claimed that he was a member of a secret society.
“He also said he would ask his group members to disturb me if I refused to return to him,” she said during a press conference at the Team TLK Complaint Centre in Kota Puteri here on Wednesday.
Nini, who works in Singapore and lives in Larkin Idaman, claimed the situation worsened when her former boyfriend’s family became involved and urged her to continue the relationship.
She alleged that the man’s mother also threatened to distribute their intimate photos and videos, as well as send the materials to her parents.
“The videos and photos were later shared on social media, which caused me further distress,” she said.
Nini claimed she received repeated threats between seven and 10 times before lodging a police report at the Johor Bahru Selatan District Police Headquarters on July 9.
However, she said the report was later withdrawn after her former boyfriend went to the police station and deleted the intimate materials from his mobile phone.
She claimed the threats resumed when the man allegedly demanded that she return to the relationship as a condition to prevent the materials from being shared again.
“He wanted me to become his girlfriend again and threatened to spread the videos and photos if I refused. He also wanted to make me his sex slave,” she claimed.
Nini said she lodged another police report on July 19 after the intimate materials were allegedly sent to her family members.
Meanwhile, Team TLK Complaint Bureau chief Lim Thow Siang urged police to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations.
He said appropriate action should be taken if sufficient evidence is found to complete the investigation papers and bring the matter to court for prosecution.
