Police are tracking down three men believed to have been involved in the robbery of a grocery shop in Bukit Beruntung here on Saturday.
Hulu Selangor district police chief Superintendent M Manimaran said the case came to the authorities’ attention after a video purportedly showing the incident went viral on social media.
The footage showed three men, believed to be locals, allegedly entering the grocery shop while armed with machetes before carrying out the robbery.
“On Aug 29, 2026, at about 2pm, Hulu Selangor police detected a video circulating on social media showing three men believed to be locals armed with machetes allegedly committing a robbery at a grocery shop in the Bukit Beruntung area,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Manimaran said an investigation paper had been opened under Sections 395 and 397 of the Penal Code in connection with the incident.
However, police have yet to receive an official report from the alleged victim.
He said investigators are continuing their work to establish what actually happened while gathering information and statements related to the case.
Police have also urged members of the public who may have information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
