Police are conducting a fresh review of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the scene of a fatal accident involving two cyclists who were struck by a car along Kilometer 9.0 of Jalan Persiaran Selatan last Thursday.
Putrajaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Aidi Sham Mohamed said investigators reviewed the recordings at the Putrajaya Command Centre (PCC) operated by Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) on Monday.
He said the exact cause of the crash remains under investigation, with police carrying out further checks on the CCTV footage to establish what happened before and during the incident.
“So far, four individuals have had their statements recorded to assist with the investigation.
“They comprise two family members, as well as the car driver and a road contractor,” he said when contacted on Monday.
The accident occurred at around 10.15pm, with police confirming that the car driver, a man in his 40s, was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time.
The two cyclists who died at the scene were identified as Mohd Hilmi Tahar, 48, and Syazwan Zharif Abdul Karim, 30.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Police have urged members of the public and witnesses with information about the accident to come forward and assist the investigation.

Investigators are expected to continue examining the CCTV recordings and statements from witnesses to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
