A 29-year-old unemployed man was arrested after police discovered multiple types of drugs worth RM2,802.65 hidden inside a leaf-patterned crossbody bag he was carrying during a raid in Kampung Banggol Donas, Manir, on Thursday.
Kuala Terengganu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Azli Mohd Noor said the suspect was detained at about 6.45pm by officers from the district Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) in front of a house.
A search of the suspect revealed a crossbody bag, where officers found four plastic bottles containing 17.65g of suspected heroin, six green straw tubes filled with suspected yaba pills weighing 7.43g, and a packet containing 5.33g of suspected methamphetamine.
The total value of the drugs seized was estimated at RM2,802.65.
Preliminary urine screening also found the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine.
Police investigations further revealed that the man has two previous drug-related records under Sections 15(1)(a) and 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, both recorded in 2025.
During initial questioning, the suspect allegedly admitted ownership of all the drugs seized by police.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and the suspect was brought before the Magistrate’s Court on Friday for a remand application to assist with investigations.
