The retail prices of RON97, unsubsidised RON95 and unsubsidised diesel will each decrease by 5 sen per litre for the period from August 6 to August 12, 2026.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) announced that the new prices, effective Thursday, are RM4.35 per litre for RON97, RM3.77 per litre for unsubsidised RON95, and RM4.57 per litre for unsubsidised diesel.
The ministry said the reduction reflects lower prices under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism (APM) calculation, despite Brent crude oil trading above US$90 per barrel last week.
According to the MoF, global oil markets continue to face significant volatility due to ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, including rapidly changing developments surrounding international peace efforts.
It said petroleum prices remain highly sensitive to the risk of supply disruptions, particularly if key shipping routes such as the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea are affected by escalating conflicts.
The ministry added that global fuel prices are expected to remain volatile until the conflicts are fully resolved.
Meanwhile, the prices of subsidised fuels remain unchanged.
RON95 under the BUDI95 programme will stay at RM1.99 per litre, while BUDI Diesel remains at RM2.10 per litre.
Fuel prices under the Subsidised Petrol Control System (SKPS) and Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) also remain unchanged at RM2.05 per litre and RM2.15 per litre, respectively.
The ministry said eligible Malaysians can continue purchasing subsidised RON95 and diesel using their MyKad, subject to their eligibility and monthly quota under the BUDI95 and BUDI Madani Diesel programmes.
It added that the Madani Government will continue adopting a prudent approach to shield consumers from global fuel price fluctuations while ensuring a stable and sufficient national fuel supply.
