Singapore Dad Fined RM1,800 After Punching Man Over Wife Allegation in Johor Karaoke Room

Date:

A Singaporean man was fined RM1,800 (S$580) by a Malaysian court on January 28 after punching another man who allegedly made advances toward his wife.

Romeo Seah Yan Sheng, 41, a father of four, was charged with intentionally causing injury to a 33-year-old victim in Taman Setia Jaya, Johor, according to the New Straits Times. Had he not paid the fine, Seah would have faced a four-month jail term.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m. on October 5, 2025, in a karaoke room at an entertainment outlet. Seah and four friends reportedly barged in and confronted the victim, asking if he had brought Seah’s wife with him. The victim denied the claim, but Seah allegedly struck him in the face, causing bleeding, and continued to punch the victim’s head repeatedly.

During the scuffle, the victim fell and hit his head on a table, resulting in further injuries that required hospital treatment.

Seah pleaded guilty in court and promptly paid the fine following his sentencing.
