Six men, including the employer of an Indonesian woman allegedly abused in Selangor, have been arrested following a police raid at a tyre shop in Jalan Merbau, Pusat Perniagaan Oren, on Monday.
Seberang Perai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Abdul Rahman said the operation was carried out by officers from the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Department (CID), in cooperation with the Kuala Langat District Police Headquarters’ Criminal Investigation Division.
The operation was also supported by the Penang Police Contingent Headquarters’ CID forensic team.
Anuar said the raid followed a police report lodged in Tanjong Sepat concerning an Indonesian woman who was allegedly abused by her employer.
The alleged incident took place at a location along Jalan Besar in Kampung Tumbok, Tanjong Sepat, Selangor, on October 16.
The victim, identified as Siti Rohaya, reportedly suffered burn injuries across her body.
Anuar confirmed that six men were detained during the operation, including the victim’s employer. However, the identities of all the suspects had yet to be established.
The case is being investigated under Section 12 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM).
