Skull Falls from Ceiling as Renovation Worker Repairs Abandoned Home

Date:

A renovation worker in Pathum Thani’s Lam Luk Ka district in Thailand made a shocking discovery while repairing a two-storey detached house.

Kanchana Charoenthong, 59, was clearing debris from a hole in the second-floor ceiling when a human skull fell down with the pipe she was using, according to reports from Khaosod English and Bangkok Post.

Authorities later uncovered a clothed skeleton, a wire cutter, and the ID card of a Cambodian migrant worker, believed to be 29 years old, who went missing about two years ago. Investigators suspect he was electrocuted while attempting to steal wiring from the then-vacant property.

Kanchana said the house had emitted a strong odor since renovations began last month, which workers initially attributed to a monitor lizard. The grim discovery occurred on Jan. 6, the first day she returned to work after the New Year holidays.

Residents noted that the house had been abandoned for years and that wire thefts were common in the area. The missing worker’s family had searched extensively before eventually returning to Cambodia.

The remains have been sent to the Central Institute of Forensic Science for confirmation, and authorities are working to contact the worker’s family.
