Taiwan Offers Malaysians Up To RM1,030 To Return For Another Holiday

Date:

Taiwan is stepping up efforts to attract Malaysian tourists by offering special incentives while strengthening partnerships with local tourism industry players.

Through its ‘Return to Taiwan’ and ‘Double the Luck’ campaigns, Malaysians who have previously visited Taiwan on or after Jan 1, 2023, are eligible for NT$5,000 (RM644) in spending credits.

Those travelling with a companion can receive an additional NT$3,000 (RM386), bringing the total benefits to as much as NT$8,000 (RM1,030).

Joseph Cheng, director of the International Affairs Division of Taiwan’s Tourism Administration, said Malaysia remains one of Taiwan’s key source markets under the New Southbound Policy.

He said visa-free entry facilities and flight connectivity between Malaysia and Taiwan were among the key factors encouraging more Malaysians to visit the destination.

“Taiwan is not merely a holiday destination, but also offers new experiences and meaningful memories with every visit.

“We hope more Malaysians will visit Taiwan to discover its unique attractions and enjoy unforgettable experiences,” he said.

Cheng said Taiwan’s diverse attractions, including food, culture, nature and shopping, allow visitors to enjoy different experiences each time they return.

He said the campaigns were also aimed at highlighting Taiwan’s unique and diverse tourism offerings, which remain vibrant from morning until night.

“Anytime and anywhere, Taiwan is always ready to welcome Malaysian tourists,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Taiwan Tourism Administration’s Kuala Lumpur office and Malaysia Airlines will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) covering familiarisation trips (FAM Trips), product development and joint marketing to further strengthen tourism ties between Malaysia and Taiwan.

The partnership will also cover the corporate segment through the Tourism Dual-Wheel Drive Programme, which took effect on Sept 1 and offers incentives to MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) travellers who extend their stay for leisure purposes.

Taiwan is also stepping up efforts to attract Muslim travellers by inviting Malaysian Muslim tour operators to participate in the Taiwan Pavilion at the MATTA Kuala Lumpur Fair, held from Sept 4 to 6.

The island is also focusing on Muslim-friendly tourism after ranking third globally among destinations outside the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2026.

Cheng previously led a delegation of 44 organisations and 76 industry representatives to Malaysia to introduce the Tourism Dual-Wheel Drive Programme and the Taiwan – 100 Ways campaign, while strengthening cooperation with local industry players.

The initiatives reflect Taiwan’s strategy not only to attract new Malaysian visitors, but also to encourage those who have visited before to return and discover different experiences and attractions.
