Tawau Hospital Worker Arrested Over Alleged Assault, Threats

Date:

A disagreement between two colleagues at Tawau Hospital escalated into an alleged physical assault, with a woman accused of pushing and kicking her co-worker before allegedly issuing a criminal threat.

The woman, believed to be in her 30s, was arrested by police to assist with investigations following the incident.

Tawau district police chief Assistant Commissioner Rosdi Mat Jusoh said the incident occurred when the victim, believed to be in her 20s, was in a staff rest room before being approached by the suspect, whom she knew.

He said the suspect allegedly raised her voice at the victim following a misunderstanding between the two.

“The suspect then allegedly pushed and kicked the victim, causing her to experience pain in several parts of her body,” he said in a statement today.

Following a report, officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Tawau District Police Headquarters arrested the suspect for further investigation.

Police checks found that the suspect had no previous criminal record, while investigations are continuing into the alleged assault and threat.

The case is being investigated under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code, relating to criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing hurt.

Rosdi also reminded members of the public to avoid acting rashly or resorting to violence when dealing with disagreements.

He said workplace disputes should instead be addressed through the proper channels, including reporting the matter to supervisors or heads of departments, without involving threats or physical force.

The incident also highlights the importance of handling workplace conflicts through appropriate procedures to prevent disagreements from escalating into more serious confrontations.
