Police have arrested a 54-year-old male teacher who is alleged to have assaulted a 14-year-old student and slapped the boy’s mother in two separate incidents in Pasir Mas.
Pasir Mas district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazlan Hassan said the suspect was detained yesterday after police received a report from the 42-year-old mother on the same day.
He said the first incident allegedly occurred at a secondary school on Tuesday, involving the teenage student.
The following day, the boy’s mother is believed to have approached the teacher to discuss what had happened to her son. However, the meeting allegedly took a turn when the teacher reportedly slapped her.
“The suspect was detained immediately after police received the report and has been remanded for three days from today to assist with investigations,” Mazlan said when contacted by Bernama today.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which covers voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon or other dangerous means.
The arrest comes as schools and parents continue to face the need for appropriate channels to address disputes involving students, particularly where allegations of physical confrontation arise.
Police investigations will determine the circumstances surrounding both incidents and establish the facts of the case.
