A routine trip to buy food took an unexpected turn for a civil servant after he was caught in an Immigration Department raid on several massage parlours in Bukit Bintang late last night.
The man, in his 40s, said he had travelled from Ipoh, Perak, to Kuala Lumpur for a golf outing and was staying at a nearby hotel. He claimed that while heading out to get food, he was approached by several foreign women believed to be masseuses.
“They kept pulling and persuading me to go in for a massage. I initially refused, but they continued tugging at me. After playing golf, my body was aching, so I eventually agreed to try it,” he said.
He added that he paid RM60 to an Indonesian woman and entered the massage parlour, but before any service was provided, Immigration Department officers arrived to conduct a raid.
The premises were among three massage parlours raided by the Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department at around 11pm following intelligence gathering and surveillance on suspected illegal activities in the area. A brief commotion ensued when several foreign nationals attempted to flee upon noticing the authorities.
Kuala Lumpur Immigration Department director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said a total of 30 individuals were detained during the operation. Those arrested comprised 11 Indonesians, 16 Cambodians, two Thais and one Chinese national.
“All those detained were brought to the department’s office for further investigation and action,” he said.
Wan Mohammed Saupee added that the individuals are being investigated under Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 for overstaying, Section 6(1)(c) of the same Act for not possessing valid passes or permits, and Regulation 39(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
