A tour bus driver involved in a seven-vehicle collision near the Jalan Lapangan Terbang Subang exit towards the Federal Highway today has tested positive for methamphetamine.
The driver, believed to be in his 40s, was also found to have 29 previous offences on record, according to police.
Petaling Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said the driver would be brought before the Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court tomorrow for a remand application.
He said an initial urine screening conducted after the crash returned a positive result for methamphetamine.
“The driver will be brought to the Petaling Jaya Court tomorrow for a remand application,” he said in a statement.
Police began investigating after a video of the seven-vehicle crash circulated widely on social media. The accident reportedly occurred at about 9.15am on Friday.
Initial investigations found that the bus was travelling from Shah Alam towards Petaling Jaya when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle.
The bus then crashed into two vehicles, with the impact triggering a chain collision involving four other vehicles.
A local man in his 30s was injured in the incident and was subsequently taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for further treatment.
Fortunately, the tour bus was not carrying any passengers when the collision occurred.
Shamsudin said the case is being investigated under Section 44(1A) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He urged all road users to obey traffic regulations and exercise caution while driving, stressing that police would take firm action against those who breach the law.

Earlier media reports stated that a man had been injured after becoming trapped inside a car involved in the collision with the tour bus and other vehicles along the Jalan Subang route towards the Federal Highway.
