Two men were injured after becoming trapped inside a tow truck following a three-vehicle collision inside the Jalan Loke Yew Tunnel heading towards Kuala Lumpur city centre early Friday.
In a statement, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said its Operations Control Centre received an emergency call through the NG999 hotline at 4.08am.
A total of 16 firefighters and officers from the Jalan Hang Tuah and Pudu Fire and Rescue Stations were dispatched to the scene to carry out the rescue operation.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the crash involved two tow trucks and a Perodua Myvi.
The two victims, believed to be the tow truck driver and attendant, both in their 30s, were trapped inside one of the tow trucks.
Firefighters successfully extricated both men from the wreckage at about 4.39am after carrying out a rescue operation.
One victim suffered injuries to his leg, while the other sustained head injuries and a fractured leg.
Both victims remained conscious throughout the operation before being handed over to ambulance personnel for further medical treatment.
The rescue operation was completed at 5.42am.
