Two people are believed to have been injured after part of a building facade collapsed onto them along Lebuh Armenian in George Town, Penang, on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at around 1pm, with both victims reportedly trapped beneath the falling structure before being rescued.
They were rushed to the nearest hospital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries has yet to be confirmed.
Authorities have not released further details, and the cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
Lebuh Armenian is one of George Town’s busiest heritage streets and is located within the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The area is well known for its historic shophouses, vibrant street art, museums, traditional Chinese clan houses and souvenir shops. It is also home to Ernest Zacharevic’s famous “Children on a Bicycle” mural, one of Penang’s most recognisable tourist attractions.
Lebuh Armenian also holds historical importance as the site of Sun Yat-sen’s Penang Conference, which played a role in the movement that led to the fall of China’s Qing Dynasty in 1911.
