Two people were killed while three others suffered serious injuries in a collision involving a Proton X70 sports utility vehicle (SUV) and a trailer near YTL Green Data Center Park along Jalan Lestari Hijau 1, Taman Lestari Hijau, on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred at about 7.36pm and involved a Proton X70 carrying five occupants that was believed to have collided with a trailer.
Kulai Fire and Rescue Station operations commander, Senior Fire Officer I Mohd Fauzi Che Idris, said emergency services received a distress call at 7.36pm before a fire engine and rescue personnel were dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, firefighters found two victims trapped inside the Proton X70.
“The rescue team immediately carried out extrication operations and successfully freed both victims from the wreckage. However, they were pronounced dead at the scene by Ministry of Health medical personnel,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Mohd Fauzi, the remaining three occupants of the SUV sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for further treatment.
He added that the trailer driver escaped the crash without any injuries.
The rescue operation involved 14 personnel from the Kulai and Pekan Nenas Fire and Rescue Stations and was fully concluded at 10.15pm.
