Police have arrested two men believed to be involved in an armed robbery at a grocery shop in Taman Delux, Dengkil, on the night of Sept 9.
Sepang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Norhizam Bahaman said the arrests were made following a police report lodged over the incident.
He said both suspects were believed to be involved in the robbery, which sparked concern among local residents after footage of the incident went viral and drew public attention.
“Following the incident, police successfully arrested two men believed to be involved.
“Further investigations are still being conducted to establish the role of each suspect and obtain additional information related to the case,” he said when contacted today.
Norhizam said the case is being investigated under Sections 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery involving the use of a weapon.
If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison and whipping.
He also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact investigating officer Inspector Muhammad Hussaini Helmee at 019-8966292 or go to Dengkil Police Station to assist with the investigation.
In a viral video, four men dressed in black and wearing helmets were seen allegedly robbing the grocery shop while armed with machetes before fleeing with cash.
