The attempt by two undocumented Bangladeshi migrants to seek better job opportunities in Kelantan ended after they were arrested by the General Operations Force (PGA) during a patrol in Kampung Beting Pauh on Tuesday.
The two men, both aged 21, were detained at about 2am while walking along the roadside in a suspicious manner during Op Taring Wawasan.
Southeast Brigade commander Senior Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Radzi Hussain said members of the Strike Force/Tiger Platoon from Company A, 9th Battalion PGA Kuala Terengganu, together with the Pasir Mas District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation and Enforcement Division, carried out the arrest during their patrol.
He said checks found that both suspects failed to produce any valid travel documents or identification papers.
Initial investigations revealed that the two men admitted entering Malaysia from Thailand in January 2025 through an illegal entry route, although they were unable to identify the exact location of the crossing point.
“They initially stayed in Pasir Gudang, Johor, where they worked as construction labourers earning about RM30 a day.
“They later travelled to Kelantan around seven days ago in search of better employment opportunities and stayed temporarily at a surau in Kampung Beting Pauh,” he said.
Ahmad Radzi added that no illegal items were found during a body search, but both individuals were detained for failing to possess valid identification documents.
The two suspects have since been handed over to the Pasir Mas District Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation and Enforcement Division for further action under Section 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
