Malaysia Airlines has cancelled several flights between Kuala Lumpur and Shenzhen as well as Hong Kong due to severe weather conditions caused by Typhoon Noul.
According to the airline’s official website, the affected flights on July 25 and 26 involved MH522 (Kuala Lumpur–Shenzhen), MH523 (Shenzhen–Kuala Lumpur), MH078 (Kuala Lumpur–Hong Kong) and MH079 (Hong Kong–Kuala Lumpur).
The airline said it is closely monitoring the latest weather developments and will provide further updates regarding flight operations through its website and directly to affected passengers.
Passengers were also advised to update their contact information through the My Booking feature on the airline’s website or mobile application to ensure they receive important notifications via email and text messages.
Affected travellers may request a refund or reschedule their journey on the same route without additional charges within 30 days from the original travel date through My Booking, AskMH Live Chat or the airline’s Global Contact Centre.
Malaysia Airlines said passenger and crew safety remains its highest priority amid the challenging weather conditions.
Meanwhile, AirAsia also recorded disruptions, with its flight AK126 from Kuala Lumpur to Shenzhen cancelled on Sunday, while flights AK122 and AK128 on the same route were delayed.
Several other AirAsia services, including AK138 from Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong and AK112 from Kuala Lumpur to Guangzhou, were also affected by delays.
Typhoon Noul is expected to make landfall along the coastal areas between Hong Kong and Guangdong province from the evening of July 25 to the morning of July 26, bringing heavy rain and strong winds.
More than 20,000 residents in Guangdong had reportedly been evacuated as authorities prepared for the impact of the typhoon.
