A total of 42 foreign nationals suspected of being illegal immigrants were detained following an enforcement operation at a controversial flat-like structure in Kampung Kenangan, Sungai Makau, Hulu Langat, which recently went viral on social media.
Kajang District Police Chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof confirmed that authorities were aware of a 47-second video circulating online showing the settlement, which has drawn widespread public attention.
He said enforcement action had already been carried out at the location on Feb 28 last year through a joint Ops Kutip operation involving the police and the Selangor Immigration Department.
During the operation, authorities detained 42 foreign nationals for allegedly failing to possess valid travel documents. Those arrested comprised 35 men, three women, two boys and two girls.
According to Naazron, all detainees were investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 before being placed at an Immigration Depot for further action.
He added that immigration officers also issued relevant notices and investigation documents to a local man who identified himself as the son of the property owner to assist with the probe.
Despite the earlier operation, investigations found that the building is still occupied by two local families consisting of the owner and a tenant.
The issue resurfaced after a video shared by radio presenter Azad Jasmin showing the unusual flat structure in Hulu Langat went viral, with netizens claiming the premises had been housing large numbers of undocumented migrants.
