Woman Impaled By Steel Rods After Falling Into Drainage

Date:

A 30-year-old woman was seriously injured after she was impaled by reinforcing steel bars at a drainage construction site in Ban Chang Subdistrict, Phanat Nikhom District, Chonburi, Thailand.

The Sawang Haet Ban Thung Hiang rescue unit was alerted to the incident at a village alley in Moo 3 and rushed to the scene to provide emergency assistance.

At the location, rescuers found a rectangular drainage pit measuring about 1 metre wide and 1.2 metres long. Construction materials and excavated soil were scattered around the site, while a steel rod was seen protruding from the concrete structure.

Inside the pit, the woman identified as Ms Pannida was found trapped with three reinforcing steel bars embedded in a concrete drainage pipe under construction. She had suffered severe injuries after being impaled in the buttocks and was unable to move.

Rescue teams and emergency medical personnel carried out a delicate operation using hydraulic cutting tools to sever the metal bars while a crane was deployed to carefully lift her out of the confined space.

After being freed, the injured woman was rushed to Phanat Nikhom Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
