A 25-year-old woman lost consciousness after becoming trapped in a stalled lift with five other people, including two children, at Idaman Selasih, Lilitan Sungai Ara, Penang, on Saturday night.
The incident occurred at about 8.55pm when the lift stopped on the third floor of Block B.
Penang Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director John Sagun Francis said the department received an emergency call about the incident before firefighters from the Bayan Baru Fire and Rescue Station arrived at 9.05pm.
Firefighters used specialised equipment to open the lift doors and free the six occupants.
The rescue operation was completed at 9.31pm, with all six people successfully removed from the lift.
Five of the occupants were reported safe, while the unconscious woman received initial treatment from Malaysian Red Crescent Society personnel at the scene.
She was subsequently taken to Penang Hospital by a Red Crescent ambulance for further treatment.
Six firefighters and a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) vehicle were involved in the operation.
After confirming that there were no other hazards at the scene, firefighters ended the operation at 10.10pm and handed the area over to the building management for further action.
