Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has called on the authorities to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report concerning Tabung Haji (TH), stressing that those found responsible must be held accountable.
The King made the call after receiving a briefing from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on the findings of the RCI. Sultan Ibrahim said no individual should be spared from action if investigations establish that they were involved in wrongdoing.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring that any issues uncovered through the inquiry do not recur, as accountability and stronger oversight are essential to prevent similar problems in the future.
“No one must escape action if they are truly guilty. Most importantly, there should be no repeat of such issues,” he said in a statement issued by the Royal Press Office.
Sultan Ibrahim was also briefed by Anwar on current issues involving the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), although no further details were provided.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has formed a special task force to review the TH RCI report and has made several arrests as part of its investigation. Separately, Bukit Aman has opened five investigation papers into alleged commercial offences identified in the report.
In another matter, the King called for tighter security checks at airports and international entry points following several recent cases involving Malaysians who were arrested overseas for allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs.
Sultan Ibrahim said enforcement agencies should strengthen cooperation and improve monitoring and enforcement measures to address such threats more effectively.
He said continuous surveillance was also necessary to prevent drug trafficking and other forms of transnational crime, which could pose a threat to public safety and national security.
The call comes amid heightened attention on international drug trafficking cases involving Malaysians, highlighting the need for stronger preventive measures at the country’s entry and exit points.
