Bersama Confirms Entry Into Johor State Election As Party Gears Up For First Major Test

Date:

Parti Bersama Malaysia (Bersama) has officially confirmed that it will contest in the 2026 Johor State Election, marking the party’s first electoral battle since its relaunch less than a month ago.

In a joint statement issued by Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, the party said the decision was finalised following a series of discussions involving Bersama’s leadership and selected members from across the country.

According to the statement, further talks with party representatives in Johor have been scheduled to identify the constituencies that Bersama will contest in the upcoming election.

The party described the Johor state polls as a valuable opportunity to introduce Bersama to voters and establish its presence on the national political stage.

“Johor 2026 provides an important platform to introduce Bersama to the people of Johor, even though the party has been relaunched for less than a month since May 17,” the statement said.

Party leaders believe participation in the election will also help Bersama rapidly develop its election machinery while testing its strengths and weaknesses ahead of future electoral contests.

As part of its preparations, Bersama will launch a nationwide roadshow beginning in Johor this Saturday at the Danga Bay Convention Centre at 8pm.

Dubbed the “Jelajah Kancil”, the tour will focus on the party’s 12 key policy agendas, with each state highlighting a specific issue aimed at engaging voters and gathering grassroots feedback.

Following the Johor event, the roadshow will continue across the country, including stops in Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Perlis and Kuala Lumpur throughout June and July.

The party also expressed appreciation to its members and supporters for the encouraging response received since its relaunch.

“We are grateful to Bersama members and Malaysians who have shown tremendous support so far,” the statement read.

Bersama added that it intends to build a people-driven campaign focused on positive politics, fresh ideas and long-term solutions as it prepares to enter the Johor election battlefield.

The upcoming state election is expected to be a key test of whether the newly rebranded party can translate early public interest into meaningful electoral support.
