Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has been accused of acting as a “Trojan horse” for Pakatan Harapan (PH), following its complaint to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) that led to Perikatan Nasional (PN) being suspended from conducting activities.
Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan) vice-president Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said the development was not surprising, claiming it had contributed to internal divisions within Bersatu for more than a year.
He said the party’s internal rifts, which had led to the emergence of rival factions, stemmed from disagreements among its top leaders, including over whether some leaders wanted to cooperate with PH.
“The action taken by RoS against PN is not surprising because that is Bersatu’s role in remaining within PN. They only want to create chaos within PN so that it loses momentum ahead of the elections,” he told Mingguan Malaysia.
On Sept 22, RoS issued a notice to PN, followed by an order suspending all the coalition’s activities two days later.
The Tasek Gelugor MP said no action could be taken against Bersatu for the time being as all PN activities remained suspended.
However, he said he would personally propose expelling Bersatu from the coalition once PN was allowed to resume its activities.
“Personally, when the PN Supreme Council meeting is called later, I will propose that Bersatu be expelled. But for now, there are several technical issues that need to be resolved, including matters involving RoS and the courts,” he said.
Wan Saiful also predicted that Bersatu would continue disrupting PN from within to weaken the coalition, despite the party’s insistence on remaining in the alliance.
