Businessman Albert Tei Accepts Debate Challenge With J-Kom Chief

Date:

Businessman Albert Tei has accepted a challenge to a public debate with Communications Community Department (J-Kom) Director-General Mohd Hisyamuddin Ghazali over allegations of government interference in social media content restrictions.

Tei said he is ready to take part in the debate at any time, urging Mohd Hisyamuddin to set the date, time, venue and appoint a moderator for the session.

He added that he is prepared to attend the discussion and expects the J-Kom chief to follow through on his proposal for an open exchange of views.

“I accept the challenge. I want to know the venue, host, time and date. I am ready,” he said during a press conference held after the Gegar TikTok rally in Sunway Velocity V2 Tower.

Tei also stressed that the debate is necessary to allow both sides to clarify their positions regarding allegations of government involvement in social media account restrictions.

The issue escalated after Mohd Hisyamuddin lodged a police report against Tei over allegations including disruption of public order and making unsubstantiated claims against the Communications Ministry.

The report was filed at the Putrajaya district police headquarters and called for investigations and appropriate action to be taken.

Hisyamuddin also claimed that Tei’s presence at government premises was provocative and had caused concern among civil servants.

In response, Tei maintained that he will proceed with the debate and is expected to meet Mohd Hisyamuddin next week as tensions continue over the dispute.
