Civilians Killed On Both Sides As Drone And Artillery Strikes Escalate

Date:

Drone and artillery attacks killed civilians on both sides of the Russia-Ukraine border on Saturday, according to local officials.

In Russia’s Bryansk region, acting governor Yegor Kovalchuk said a Ukrainian drone strike killed two people inside a car in a village near the border. The claim was posted on Telegram.

Russia’s Defence Ministry, as reported by state media, said 124 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across various regions between 8am and 8pm local time.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also reported multiple waves of drones targeting the capital, saying they were successfully shot down. Russian media tallies indicated around 24 drones were intercepted during the day.

On the Ukrainian side, Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha said drone and artillery attacks near Nikopol killed one person and injured another. The area is frequently targeted due to its proximity to the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant.

Meanwhile, Russian-installed officials in occupied Donetsk said two people were killed in Ukrainian drone strikes in Horlivka and Makiivka, according to statements on Telegram.
