PKR leaders at all levels have been urged not to become complacent or overly comfortable with their positions in government, to the point of forgetting the party’s original struggle.
PKR Information Chief, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said although the party has been leading the Selangor administration since 2008, all leaders—from grassroots members and branch committees up to the highest levels—must continue to uphold unity and stability within the party.
He stressed that leaders are now constantly under public scrutiny, with their actions and conduct being closely observed and evaluated by the people. Such attention, he said, requires greater responsibility and accountability from party members.
“It is important for every member to remain responsive and not neglect their responsibilities to the community. We must never be complacent or carried away by our position in government,” he said.
Fahmi also cautioned against allowing corruption or misconduct to erode the reformist spirit, urging members to continuously strengthen their ideals and commitment to clean governance.
He made the remarks while officiating the 2026 PKR Gombak Branch Annual General Meeting, where he described the branch as strong and resilient, expressing hope that it would continue to serve as a key driving force in Selangor’s development and a bulwark for the party.
“We represent not only leaders like Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, but also Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he added, stressing the importance of internal reminders in maintaining discipline within the party.
In the same speech, Fahmi also touched on the effectiveness of the MADANI government’s governance in addressing global economic challenges.
On speculation regarding a possible Johor state election, he said he would be heading to the southern state soon to begin groundwork and organise party machinery.
