King Invites Vladimir Putin To Visit Malaysia In 2027 Amid Strengthening Bilateral Ties

Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has extended an invitation to Russian President Vladimir Putin to undertake a state visit to Malaysia in 2027, according to reports by Sputnik and RIA Novosti.

During the meeting in Moscow, His Majesty expressed appreciation to President Putin for the warm reception accorded during his visit. The King also conveyed an invitation for Putin to visit Malaysia next year, which will mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between both nations.

President Putin, in response, acknowledged the steadily strengthening ties between Russia and Malaysia, noting that cooperation between the two countries continues to develop positively.

“Our relations are developing well. Next year we will celebrate the anniversary of diplomatic relations,” Putin was quoted as saying, adding that both countries are actively cooperating on the international stage, including within the United Nations and ASEAN frameworks.

He further highlighted that trade and economic relations between Moscow and Kuala Lumpur have continued to grow, with potential to recover and surpass recent slowdowns in bilateral trade.

Putin also expressed gratitude for the invitation and voiced optimism that relations between Russia and Malaysia would continue to strengthen based on longstanding cooperation and mutual interests.
