The Malaysian Rubber Board (LGM) has seized four tonnes of rubber gloves without valid permits during an enforcement operation at a premises in Puchong, Selangor, yesterday.
The raid was carried out by LGM’s Inspection and Enforcement Unit (UIP) in collaboration with the Medical Device Authority (MDA).
LGM said the premises was believed to be actively involved in buying, storing and selling rejected and scrap rubber gloves without the required permit.
“During the operation, we seized approximately four tonnes of rubber gloves packed in sacks, along with a weighing scale. The total value of the seized items is estimated at RM20,000,” it said in a statement.
According to the authority, the case is being investigated under the Malaysian Rubber Board (Licensing and Permit) Regulations 2014, specifically Regulation 22(1)(b), which prohibits any party from buying, storing or selling rejected and scrap rubber gloves without a PST-G permit.
If convicted, offenders may face a fine of up to RM50,000, imprisonment of up to two years, or both.
