Loke Signals Equal Response To Johor Election Strategy

Date:

DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke Siew Fook has stated that if the Johor state legislative assembly is dissolved tomorrow, Negeri Sembilan will also move to dissolve its assembly on the same day.

Loke, who is also DAP Negeri Sembilan chairman, made the remarks in response to Johor Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi’s announcement that BN will contest all 56 state seats in the upcoming Johor state election.

He said the response reflects PH’s stance that it is prepared to contest all seats if political rivals proceed with a full-scale contest.

“If Johor dissolves its State Legislative Assembly tomorrow, Negeri Sembilan will also dissolve tomorrow. Since Johor wants to contest all 56 seats, we will also contest all 36 seats in Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

He made the statement while speaking at the PH Convention 2026 at the Johor International Convention Centre, which was attended by more than 8,000 delegates from component parties.

Loke also said Johor residents should recognise that the state’s recent development progress was the result of cooperation under the federal unity government.

He said several major infrastructure projects, including the Johor–Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, had seen renewed progress under the current administration.

He noted that although the RTS Link was initiated under the previous government, it had faced delays and outstanding issues that were later addressed through federal commitment.

He also highlighted the Automated Transit System (ART) project, which has been approved by the Cabinet with an allocation of RM10 million as part of efforts to ease traffic congestion in the city centre.

Responding to criticisms over delays in major projects, he said large-scale developments naturally require time and should not be rushed.

He added that in the meantime, interim public transport solutions such as feeder buses have been introduced.

Loke further said the Electric Train Service (ETS), which previously faced long delays, had also been successfully revived under the current leadership.

He urged the public to distinguish between facts and misinformation regarding development issues in Johor, especially ahead of the upcoming state election.

He also stressed that no development projects in Johor had been sidelined and that the federal government remains committed to approving state requests where appropriate.

“Development in Johor is not the work of one side alone, but the result of cooperation between state and federal governments,” he said.
